FlightPath3D Reaches 500+ Installs During First Half of 2021

During the first half of 2021, FlightPath3D completed over 500 installations of its interactive travel applications, including its route map and smart travel guide. The company believes it is on track to achieve its goal of 4,000 aircraft installs by the end of the year.

Duncan Jackson, president at FlightPath3D, explained, “We’re seeing the move to a touchless cabin, which is driving demand for our Wi-Fi streaming map that’s viewed on passengers’ own devices.”

Of the 500+ installs so far this year, Jackson confirmed that more were for wireless than in-seat in-flight entertainment.

“Thanks to our any device, any platform approach, our market-leading map, and travel applications are available on any in-flight entertainment architecture (seatback, overhead and Wi-Fi streaming) and on any OEM platform,” Jackson continued.

“We’re proud of the integration, certification, and joint sales efforts with all our OEM partners: Anuvu, Astronics, Burrana, Gogo, IDAIR, Immfly, Panasonic, Safran Passenger Solutions, and Thales.”

According to Jackson, FlightPath3D’s latest installations include work for four new airline clients that have aircraft based in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. In addition, the company has completed a significant number of installs for business aviation customers.

In terms of how COVID-19 has affected the installation process, Jackson said, “We have virtual environments for every customer that are available to us at a moment’s notice. We can test and validate the application on any platform and mimic the aircraft environment.”

“Working remotely made us more productive,” he added. “The slow-down in deployments in 2020 gave us the ability to build amazing new features like our route map, 4K UHD maps, zooming to 60-centimeter resolution, and a full 3D streaming service.”

In addition to new features for its in-flight product portfolio, which is flying with over 70 airlines worldwide, Jackson confirmed that FlightPath3D has “developed several airport applications this year, which will enter service in the fourth quarter of 2021 with a number of US and international airports. More news about that will come shortly.”
