FlightPath3D Unveils Next Generation Kids Map

Feature-rich new Kids Map will roll out with a major airline partner later this year.

[HAMBURG, Germany 29 May 2024] – The next generation of inflight infotainment for children has arrived, with the release of new upgrades to gamify FlightPath3D’s popular Kids Map. The updated blend of flight tracking and entertainment for younger passengers builds on a decade of successful Kids Map deployments, extending the one-of-a-kind offering with new games designed to transform how young passengers learn and explore during flights.

The Kids Map flying today is a junior sized version of FlightPath3D’s core 3D Flight Tracker, keeping kids entertained and informed with a moving map, flight info data (like altitude and time to destination), and world discovery featuring 3D renderings of animals, oceans, countries, continents, and other landmarks. With this new release, FlightPath3D’s Kids Map introduces a gamified experience to discover airline destinations and explore the world, creating a more powerful marketing tool for carriers to engage with younger passengers.

“Our goal at FlightPath3D is to blend data with entertainment and discovery to keep every flying passenger engaged,” explains President Duncan Jackson. “The Kids Map is an extension of this, where we aim to ignite a lifelong passion for travel in young flyers by making geography fun and interactive in a format kids love.”

FlightPath3D has secured a major global airline as the launch customer for the new Kids Map, with rollout slated to begin in mid-2024.

The new Kids Map’s gamified approach allows younger passengers to explore the globe by solving a jigsaw puzzle or testing their knowledge with a memory game tied to a city’s theme, replacing the points of interest from the adult version. Kids will learn about the various places an airline serves while being entertained in the air. In addition, airlines can customize the content, leveraging partner assets in tiles or images for sponsorship tie-ins.

The updated Kids Map also includes a flags of the world game which can similarly be targeted to an airline’s collection of destinations. An additional layer of gamification comes via milestone badges, awarded as games are completed to help passengers track their progress.

Kids Map is an optional layer, built-in to the core in-seat FlightPath3D platform. This allows airlines to deploy it quickly and easily across their fleet, without requiring extensive reconfiguration or software changes.
